CUSTOMER PROFILE
Eastern Municipal Water District (EMWD) of Southern California is the water, wastewater service, and recycled water provider to nearly one million people living and working within a 555-squaremile service area in western Riverside County. It is California’s sixth-largest retail water agency.
CROSS-DEPARTMENTAL
- - CIP
- - DEV
- - Ops&Maint
THE SITUATION
EMWD’s legacy project management software system could no longer support the company’s workflow needs. EMWD managers were often dissatisfied with the inefficiencies in the old system, with regular outages, downtime, cumbersome controls, and a lack of support. The system was outdated, antiquated, and unable to keep up with current industry standards and workforce needs.
THE SOLUTION
With CIPO, EMWD employees can entirely work within the same platform, with personalized dashboards and role-based features and permissions. A streamlined workflow encourages transparent communication between all on-site and off-site Managers, Construction Administrators, Inspectors, and Contractors, allowing multiple users to track the health and progress of a project over time.
A built-in notification system helps hold users accountable to live project timelines. CIPO makes it easy for users to generate and customize templates for various documents within the same platform (i.e., RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, and payment requests) and to make changes when legalities and circumstances change. Users can edit, sign, and submit documents electronically.
BENEFITS
INCREASED EFFICIENCY
Improved team efficiencies cross-department. For example, change order approval process went from weeks to hours.
COST SAVINGS
Eliminated several independent systems by centralizing data onto the CIPO platform.
STANDARDIZATION
CIPO was implemented for the CIP department; however, now all Dev projects are also now managed in CIPO, and data is accessible to the Ops&Maint teams too.
